THE EARTH FLOWER

About Us
Sudhanshu Avlur Venkat is a graduate of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bangalore, and the founder of "The Earth Flower", a clothing label born from a love for the planet, a respect for tradition, and a belief in thoughtful, intentional design.
At The Earth Flower, we work with natural dyes, sustainable fabrics, and zero-waste practices, creating garments that not only look good but also feel good. Each garment is crafted with care, blending timeless techniques with a modern sensibility. This label is deeply personal to me — it’s a way to honor the hands that make our clothes, the stories behind them, and the earth that provides for us. I hope to gently challenge the fast fashion mindset and encourage a slower, more conscious way of dressing, one that celebrates beauty, purpose, and connection.
Our Artistic Influences
At The Earth Flower, we believe in the quiet magic of flowers, roots, seeds, and all that nature offers in abundance. The colours we use are drawn entirely from natural dyes, and every fabric we work with is organic / handloom cotton, gentle on the earth and soft on the skin. We source our fabric from women's cooperatives and weaver clusters.
We are deeply inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Mottainai, which encourages us to reduce waste, honour resources, and create garments that are brought to life through a thoughtful blend of traditional techniques from block printing and Shibori dyeing to the delicate artistry of Kantha embroidery. The designs are comfort fit and have been delicately embellished with embroidery and dyeing to bring nature close to us. While the dyes are extracted from flowers, seeds, petals, leaves and the bark, the process is one filled with love. Each piece is a reflection of our journey one rooted in sustainability, guided by craft, and open to artistic exploration.
Each ensemble is carefully crafted and then prepared for dyeing. While the dyebath is getting ready, each ensemble is folded, twirled and twisted thereby creating a very unique design. It is almost like each ensemble whispers a feature from nature that it wishes to wear.

The embellishment is a delicate flower, a leaf, a dandelion or a dragonfly that is done using a simple kantha and sashiko inspired stitch . This is a deliberate attempt to let the dyed pattern and the embroidery design do the talking. As we continue to grow, we hope to connect with kindred spirits who cherish slow fashion and find meaning in the handmade.
